Based on the popular novel by Anthony Doerr and set in the occupied France of 1944, it involves the French, English-accented Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) and German soldier Werner Pfennig (Louis Hofmann). As has probably already become clear, one needs to approach this four-part series as a fairy tale, or surrender unconditionally.
